Take a step back...
Drowning is the second leading cause of injury death of children under 15 is the United States (U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). In Alaska, drowning is the second leading cause of accidental death. Alaskan Native children are two times more likely to die from drowning than any other population in the US. These alarming statisctics are a call to action. "Take a Step Back" program answers this call.
Alaska Institute for Personal Growth (AIPG) grew out of a need to bring water safety education to remote villages in Alaska. During college, our founder worked with a school program for villages on the Kuskokwim River. When he returned to Alaska, and found the program had been cancelled, he set about to bring the program back to the villages. We also plan to expand to provide this service to more villages.

AIPG is currently developing a series of programs in remote villages in Alaska. Our goal is to reach out to remote areas, where local services are limited, and supplement the public school system. We work with the local schools and communities to ensure our programs meet their needs. These programs will focus on water safety, injury prevention,
